About Banksy

Banksy, the most unrecognisable underground artist of world-famous street-art began his ascent to fame, and infamy, making pictorial graffiti across his hometown of Bristol, England.

Always remaining anonymous, his intelligent and highly satirical spray-painted images immediately grabbed public notoriety and acclaim.

With an acute critique of big money, consumerism, power structures and the social order these images appeared overnight on walls and public spaces in some of the most deprived and run-down sectors of the country.

Expertly rendered, often through stencilling, he progressed to making images and installations around the world, even secretly hanging his work in the Paris Louvre gallery and the museum of Modern Art in New York.

He went on to making a movie about street art that was nominated for an academy award, a dystopian 'amusement' park, an art hotel, and in 2021 a painting selling for £14.4 Million - in aid of charity.
